Thank you for joining us on this exciting endeavor. The following activities represent strategic ways that you can play a vital role in helping to shape your current and future workforce. We look forward to working with you to provide our region with students who possess the skills needed to ensure the competitiveness of our local economy.

Curriculum task force

Curriculum Task Force: collaborate with faculty in curriculum design and implementation; provide expertise and guidance to promote innovation in the IT curriculum; provide industry-based case studies and content for reusable learning objects for use in the classroom. Curriculum task forces access documents remotely on a mutually agreed upon basis with face-to-face meetings two to three times a year to review curriculum and competencies.

Performance Task Force: identify metrics and indicators for validating critical skills and competencies of students for internships and employment. Faculty Externships: sponsor paid industry-based experiences for area educators focused on industry awareness, curriculum development/realignment and or research (details of each of these options are available upon request).

IT Awareness Sessions: sponsor a two-hour industry overview at your company for a group of 20-25 educators, guidance counselors/advisors and administrators. These sessions will feature interaction with employees giving an overview of the company, requisite knowledge and skills and employment opportunities.

Faculty development

Student Leadership Forum: conduct/facilitate workshop sessions on communication skills, team building, decision-making and conflict resolution, diversity, and/or leadership; mentor students throughout the year as they plan the college/career fair and/or community service learning projects; celebrate successes at the annual awards ceremony in conjunction with the college and career fair.

Internships: provide student work placements in the form of paid or un-paid internships to students with validated skills and at least one year of education in a technical area. These can be at your company, through an intermediary (TechBoston Consulting Group) or at a non-profit with your sponsorship.

Student success

College and Career Fair: showcase your company, recruit for employment opportunities, and sponsor/facilitate workshops on topics such as resume writing, networking and interviewing techniques.

Faculty and/or Student Workshops: enlist specialists to provide faculty and/or students with updates on new and emerging fields and/or technologies. These can range from a two-hour presentation at the Winter Academy or a one-two day session during a Summer Institute for teachers to one to more class periods or after-school sessions for students depending on scope and depth of coverage.

Advocacy and Grant-writing: help BATEC secure funding and/or equipment to carry out its vision by providing expertise in securing state/federal dollars, funding through foundations and other grant opportunities.
