BATEC College Fair
The Boston Advanced Technology Education Connections (BATEC), in collaboration with its partners hold the Regional High-Tech College Fair each year. Between 800-1000 students from BPS and Metro-areas attend each year as well as 40+ regional colleges, including 2-year and 4-year institutions. The fair is designed to build IT educational awareness and college pathway connections for high school juniors who are enrolled in technology courses in the BPS and metro-area schools. The event includes workshops on financial aid, college admissions and a one-on-one college advising session. The goals of the advising session are:
- To assist students identify a range of college options by using their academic profile, career interest, and major interest;
- To help students develop a better understanding of the relationship between their IT Career interest and their IT Major(s) of choice;
- To help students understand how colleges look at their academic profile
Next year's event is scheduled for April 9, 2010 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
